"I can't find my file"
Within Applied Medical's IT Department, project files often got scattered across different platforms between chats, emails, and third party file managers, leading to frustration when PMs and project team members couldn't immediately find what they were looking for. My role was to solve this paint point through design.
After conducting interviews, iterating, and testing, I landed on this solution that centralizes file storage and management as a new feature into the existing project management software.

Tackle the problem first, not the solution
With this project I put into practice lessons I learned from previous work—to ask tons of questions and to understand the problem in and out before even coming up with any ideas—and it paid off. Often times senior leadership will already have a solution in mind before passing the work down to ICs. I challenged the initial idea and came up with a new version saved development time, cost, and garnered better feedback compared to the original. Don't be afraid to pushback and always try to understand the problem down to its root.
